Preschoolers Can Learn Without Fear from Heather

If you are wondering how to talk to your preschoolers about sometimes scary situations, have no fear, Heather Beal is here. I met Heather years ago when she was just starting her adventure to publish books for her pre-schoolers; books she wrote because she couldn’t find safety-related books on her library’s shelf.

Now, she’s not just a military veteran, but a veteran of the book publishing world. Heather owns Train4Safety books. Her books give preschoolers introductions to thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and more. Each features little ones in pre-school class settings learning about safety by hearing wise words from teachers and police officers.

In her latest book, Burnt Toast and Snow Cream Cones, pre-schoolers Lily and Niko are challenged by the sound of an alarming smoke alarm at their child care center. They have had fire drill practice before, but you have to read the story to know well they remember their lesson. No spoilers here.

Heather’s goal is to give parents and other caregivers a way to interact with our youngest charges without creating scary situations and using frightening language. Check them out and order them for your preschool and library shelves in your religious institution's daycare centers.
